Building a School

So I have been gone for the past two weeks or so because I have been working on a very special project. I am building a school for us. I’m building a school online where you can learn all about blogging. And it’s going phenomenal. I cannot wait to share it with you! When I’m ready to share some more details, you will definitely hear about it.

For now, I want to talk about something that you have probably experienced before.

Cue: Job Interview Scenario

Interviewer:
“So, where do you see yourself in the next 10 years?”

What you want to say:
“Do you know where you want to be in 10 years?”

What you actually say:
“I see myself working for this company and taking on increasing levels of management responsibility and seeing more and more people are working more and more hours in continuing to add to your bottom-line! *insert cheesy grin here*”

Interviewer: “Oh, that’s fantastic!”

Reality Check

So, you don’t really have control over people asking you this ridiculous question but, can I be real with you for a second? When you try to control every single detail of your life because you are trying to achieve a certain goal, you’re not that different from that person that’s asking “Where do you want to be in 10 years?” when they don’t know where they want to be in 10 years.

If you’re that person that freaks out when your plans don’t go exactly the way you want it to go you’re not that different from that interviewer. I’m not that different from that interviewer.

If everything in your life goes exactly the way you planned and things never ever go wrong? I can describe your life in one word – boring, very boring.

Goals are not bad but…

So, am I saying goals are bad? No, absolutely not but I am out of time and we will talk about goals some other time. Until then I challenge you to embrace the chaos. Stay tuned for updates on the school that I’m building for us. I think you’re going to love it! Bye guys!
